Facebook offers your business access to billions of consumers. It’s a can’t-miss advertising platform thanks to the sheer number of available advertising targets. Plus, Facebook has a built-in ad platform.
The social giant’s advertising program lets businesses display their ads to targeted niches, in natural, cohesive ways. The ads fit unobtrusively onto Facebook’s timeline, blending with user posts. And that’s what we’re interested in today.
Facebook’s advertising platform is most useful if you’re collecting the proper metrics. Click-through rates show which ads work by tracking how many people follow them to your landing pages. Higher-quality ads have higher CTRs and result in more conversions.
It’s straightforward in theory, but tracking the metrics isn’t easy. You’ll need help from third-party software. That’s why today we’re breaking down how to track Facebook ad conversions with Clickmagick.
What’s ClickMagick?
ClickMagick is full-service marketing platform that helps track and optimize your online marketing. The platform covers everything from affiliate tracking to custom domain tracking, but we’re interested in the Facebook Magick tool.
The Facebook tool offers two ways to track your landing page conversions. They work both in tandem and separately to monitor your landing page conversions. Let’s take a look.
The Basics
ClickMagick offers custom domains that redirect to your landing pages. When customers click the domain link, traffic gets routed through ClickMagick, recorded and then rerouted to your landing page.
Add these links to your Facebook advertisements and you’ll get click-through metrics for each landing page. And with Facebook’s ad platform, you’ll also see which user demographics clicked your links.
Though when you’re using Facebook ads, you do need to use cloaked custom links. The platform recognizes ClickMagick links and can classify them as spam.
Custom links are set up using a CNAME DNS record that “points” your domain to ClickMagick’s system. You then cloak them using the “cloak” button when you add your custom domain to ClickMagick.
Conversions, Conversions
ClickMagick allows conversion tracking in two ways. First, we’re talking about Facebook pixels. “Pixels” are “cookies” that “live” on your website as small transparent squares. When someone visits your landing page, the pixel tracks a specific action.
But you can also attach Pixels to tracking links. Just copy and paste your Facebook pixel code on your tracking link page. Every time someone clicks your link they’ll count towards your Facebook conversion data. You can then track which demographics click your link.
ClickMagick’s own tracking pixel lives on your landing pages but can also attach to your tracking links. Pixels on your website can track anything from conversions to items added to the cart.
Pixels attached to tracking links themselves work the same way as Facebook pixels. You can paste the pixel code on the tracking link page and then paste the link into your Facebook ads. When people click the link you can track if they’re repeat or new customers.
When Basic Meets Conversions
ClickMagick really shines as a tool when you combine custom domain tracking with pixel tracking. The custom domains can track ad success across demographics while the pixels identify new and repeat customers.
If you combine the tracked link pixel with ClickMagic pixels on your landing page you can see not only the demographics that click your Facebook ads but also which demographics convert.
Website owners who use ClickMagick can optimize their Facebook ads to narrow landing page traffic down to those who convert. The more conversions you make, the higher your eventual profits.
